Officially opened in March 2023, the £3.8 Omnifactory is a one-of-a-kind national smart manufacturing demonstrator and testbed in Nottingham for smart manufacturing systems. The facility was delivered through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF), the outcome of the Future Automated Aerospace Assembly Demonstrator Phase 2 (FA3D2) project, Omnifactory, which represents a step-change in the UK manufacturing sector. We support industry make their products more productively, at lower cost, at higher quality and more sustainably. This enables our partners to be more responsive, agile, adaptable and resilient to external interventions.
Operated by the Omnifactory Research Centre, we are proud to apply our expertise, capabilities and research at TRL 1-6, across a range of sectors, building upon our heritage and experience in the aerospace manufacturing sector, to other key sectors such as automotive, construction, food & beverage, medical, nuclear, space and strategic technologies.
To deliver the highest quality applied research, we have adopted best industrial research practices by introducing a PRINCE2 project management environment and a quality assurance system accredited by ISO 9001:2015, both unique in an academic research environment.
